Mommy's Assistant

Ella Kate helped Mommy work in the home office this morning. From her expressions, she's ready for a promotion.

Weekly Titi Tuesdays: by Ella Kate

Every Tuesday night, or Wednesday if something else is going on, Titi Coco (Aunt Edna) comes to hang out with Mommy and me. Daddy works at night so Mommy is always so happy when Titi Coco comes over.

I love Coco. She spoils me! She lets me fall asleep in her lap. Mean Mommy makes me go to sleep in my crib. Can you believe that?!?!

I'm always extra good for Coco. Even if I've been very cranky all day, as soon as I see Coco, I smile and want to play.

Here's a picture of me and Coco from last Tuesday.

Cereal is so funny!

Either cereal or Mommy is absolutely hilarious! Yes, we are messy eaters at the Lowery-Pullen house.

What happened to our tiny baby?

Gone are the days of having to hold Ella Kate's head or propping her up on pillows. She's an independent sitter now! Wow - 6 months have flown by.

Piper and Penelope make guest appearances in this video, too.

Pool Time!

We took Miss Ella Kate to the pool for the first time last week. She loved it! And, I must admit, she looked pretty darn cute.

Sealed as Christ's own forever...

The weekend of June 8, 2008 was, without a doubt, one of my top five weekends of all time. It was full of family, friends, and the Holy Spirit - what else does a weekend need?

Ella Kate's baptism was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. When we were planning it with the priests at our church, I was a bit bummed because the date that worked best for us and for Ella Kate's godparents wouldn't be at our church, but rather at the Diocese cathedral in Atlanta. Turns out, it was a very good thing. A very good thing, indeed.

Ella Kate was the only infant being baptized, which meant she got all the attention after the service. And, she was an angel during the ceremony. She didn't make a single peep for almost two hours. Granted, she was on Benadryl, but she was still perfect. Even when the bishop held her to bless her with water, she was quiet, seemingly taking in every moment. There were more than 600 people watching, and she amazed them all, including us, with her good behavior.

I can't remember the last time I was so moved during a service. I fought back tears as I watched the bishop and Father Tripp welcome Ella Kate into the kingdom of God. It was an amazing gift to feel so much love - for Ella Kate, for God, for my faith, for our family, and for our amazing friends who flew in from Texas to be part of it.

I'm saving my love and admiration for Ella Kate's godparents for a separate post. They deserve more than to be a simple mention in this one. They are WONDERFUL and Ella Kate will be a lucky, lucky little girl to grow up being a part of their family, too!

So, here are a few pictures. Other folks took photos, too, but I have yet to see them. These were taken with our old, broken down camera, so the quality isn't wonderful - but you can get the idea.

The food for her baptism brunch. YUM!

Whew! Baptism is hard work! Ella Kate with Daddy and her fantastic godparents, Mandi and Eddie. Baby Olivia is in the picture, too, but you can't see her quite yet.

We couldn't take pictures during the baptism, but this is immediately after. St. Philip's Cathedral is beautiful! This photo is VERY BLURRY. Don't bother clicking on it for a better view. This is as good as it gets...

Friday the 13th Just Plain Stinks

I'm not usually superstitious, but I did realize that today was Friday the 13th. I didn't think much about and went about my day.

Turns out today is, indeed, unlucky for me. I bought a digital camera during lunch. It wasn't overly expensive, but my debit card wouldn't work. Why you ask? Because some jerk in Oak Park, Illinois, stole my debit card number and has been trying to use it all over the town. Thankfully, Bank of America caught it and the lowlife scum never succeeded.

I'm teaching my daughter to share, to love, to be honest, and to do the right thing. Someone's mom in Illinois didn't share my morals.

This fiasco made me think about how trusting we are with our bank and credit information. How often do we hand over our cards to a waiter who takes it to the back to charge it? He could easily write down the number and use it or sell it. Think about all the people who have your checking account number - every single check has the account number plastered along the bottom.

Infuriating.

But, the baby understood my frustration and gave me a WONDERFUL day. We're getting over ear infections and colds while learning to manage her silent reflux. She was an angel all day. What a blessing. :)

Time to Sit Back and Unwind

It is 9:40pm in Atlanta and the sun is just now setting. I love summertime. I just wish it wasn't so hot so that we could get out and enjoy the sunshine.

And, 10 points to anyone who can tell me where the title of this post came from.

Trivia Tuesday

1. All clams start out as males; some decide to become females at some point in their lives.

2. Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie.

3. About 100 people choke to death on ballpoint pens each year.

Food for thought.
