Happy Birthday, Paige! By: Ella Kate

Today is Aunt Paigie's 29th birthday. Mommy says that it is completely unreal that she is that old. Because If Paige is that old, Mommy will be that old in 17 days. I saw a tear in Mommy's eye.

Mommy and I tried calling her this morning before I went to school, but her Blackberry was turned off as usual. I wanted to tell her that Mommy taught me how to make a "P" sound in honor of her special day!

Aunt Paigie, we are going to call you tonight so you can hear my new trick!

Happy, happy birthday! We love you!

XOXO,
Ella Kate (and Mommy)

I heart John's Creek Baptist Daycare

About a month ago, we switched daycares for a variety of reasons. Her previous daycare was fantastic, but for some reason she wasn't happy there. She got bad report cards almost every day. Toward the end, they didn't even try to find ways to put positive spins on it.

So, I thought I owed it to her to find somewhere that made her happy.

Boy, did we ever find it!!!

Our new joint is lightyears beyond my wildest dreams. There are two teachers and only TWO babies. Another little girl starts on Monday, but 2:3 is better than I ever hoped. Heck, 2:6 was what we were hoping for. We've been so blessed to have found it.

During the day, her teachers take them out for strolls and walks around the church and outside. They go visit the older classrooms. And, the older kids learning to read come and read stories to the babies. I think I'm in love.

The best part is that they say she only cries when she's hungry. Momma's happy.

Ella Kate's First Overnighter

Richard and I left Ella Kate for the first time last weekend. It was terrible on me. I had a rum and Diet Coke before I could get on the plane. At 10:30 in the morning.

If we had to leave her, we left her with a great team. Poppi, a doctor, Sara, an early childhood education expert, and Gigi, who raised me to be the fantastic human being I am today. :)

We went to New Orleans for a wedding and had a wonderful weekend. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton, I had a spa day, we ate good food and reconnected with great friends. But, around every corner, I thought about how much I wanted EK to be there with us...

Brad is officially married and safely on his honeymoon. Richard, EK and I are safely back in the comfy Atlanta suburbs. All is well in the world.

Aloha, Titi Ica! And, complete Pullen girls' night...

We had a true Pullen girls' night! Titi Ica (Josette) visited from Hawaii a few weeks ago and spent several days with us. Here are a few highlights from the trip:
- Ella Kate screamed as soon as she saw Titi Ica. Blood curdling, protect-me-Mommy screams.
- Ella Kate soon accepted Ica, especially when she gave her a stuffed turtle named Leonard.
- Mommy and Ica coined a new, nastier than ever catch phrase. We seem to create a new, raunchier one with each visit. Decorum prevents posting it. Trust me, it's bad.
- We had a GREAT Pullen girls' night with Titi Coco. We had pasta and salad. Even Piper and Penelope joined in the festivities.
- Piper and Penelope were so happy to have their Ica back. They walked around the house moping for two days after she left.

And, a few pictures:

Month Six Remix

In honor of Ella Kate's 7-month birthday yesterday, I created a short movie with pictures from last month. I've started spiking her bottles with coffee to stunt her growth.

We're Up and Running...

Her expressions are priceless. She's very excited, but obviously overwhelmed. And, might I add, poor Barkley. Piper and Penelope are in for trouble when we get home.
